BledCom 2009: Culture and Public Relations

Culture is fundamental to every human activity, especially communication, the indispensable tool of public relations practitioners. However, research on the relation of culture has been sparse and mostly conducted over the past decade and a half. Therefore, the current body of knowledge certainly does not do justice to the sensitive relationship culture and public relations. Globalization increasingly causes public relations practitioners to operate in unusual cultural environments and consequently brings the necessity to thoroughly explore this topic sooner than later.
BledCom 2009 will discuss the relationship between culture and public relations, whereby the following aspects will be presented:
- Culture as an antecedent and an environment for public relations practice
- Public relations as a culture
- Impact of public relations on societal and corporate culture
